Lipoprint LDL System
|
|||||||
According to the NCEP Adult Treatment Panel (ATP III), low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol has been identified as the principal lipid risk factor associated with coronary heart disease (CHD). Studies have shown that smaller, denser LDL particles may impart three to six times higher risk for CHD than larger, more buoyant particles. Measurement of LDL subfractions may help to identify an individual’s risk of CHD even when the LDL cholesterol level is within the normal reference range. The Lipoprint LDL System is a device that measures cholesterol in all the LDL subfractions. The test procedure is simple and can be done in less than three hours. Any abnormal value is clearly flagged. A color coded profile is generated showing the highly atherogenic, small dense LDL in red and the good HDL in green. Normal LDL profiles are classified as “Type A” and abnormal profiles are classified as “not indicative of Type A”. The Lipoprint LDL Kit contains all reagents necessary to run 100 tests.
